International Shipping: European Perspectives Related to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Brexit, Britain’s Exit from the European Union (EU)
GDPR became law in May of this year. Most people’s perceptions of the scope is notification on websites requesting permission to collect cookies or store the users details. This presentation will review the issue of data protection regulations from a shipping perspective, and provide practical tips on preparing for the regulation.
Brexit, Britain’s exit from the European Union, will occur at 11:00 p.m., UK time on 29 March 2019. To assess the impact of this on parcel shippers, companies may have searched on the major carriers’ website but been unable to find any information. Mark Nicholls will provide an assessment of what changes could occur, particularly from the perspective of US shippers who feed B2C customers and supply chains in the UK and EU markets, and what steps can be taken to prepare for the changes as a result of Brexit.
